With the rise of globalized education, more and more families are looking towards high-quality international educational resources to pave the way for their children's future development. Recognizing the strong demand for international education, China Merchants Bank (CMB) Nanchang Branch collaborated with the Singapore International Education Association (SIEA) to host a special seminar in Nanchang. This event introduced local families to study planning options for high schools in Singapore, opening doors to Singapore’s prestigious education system.
As a niche player in promoting international education, SIEA is a registered organization in Singapore. The association actively facilitates collaborations between Singapore’s education sector and institutions worldwide, building and maintaining strong ties with many universities globally. The annual University Fair attracts representatives from top universities, such as the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and Imperial College London (ICL). Admission Officers from these prestigious institutions provide in-person consultations, helping students and parents gain firsthand insights into the latest university admissions policies.
Additionally, SIEA is planning to establish a scholarship programme in China and will organize lecture tours featuring professors from renowned institutions in Singapore. These initiatives aim to deepen Chinese students’ understanding of Singapore’s education landscape.
At the seminar, SIEA experts elaborated on the advantages of studying in Singapore. In terms of safety, Singapore is one of Asia’s safest countries, with a well-structured legal system and a stable social environment, standing in stark contrast to the frequent safety concerns in Western countries. Regarding employment and permanent residency opportunities, NUS and NTU graduates enjoy strong employability, with over 97% securing jobs within six months of graduation, and starting salaries exceeding SGD 4,500 (approximately RMB 25,000).
Based on publicly available data, over 82% of international students who complete their high school and public university education in Singapore can secure Permanent Residence (PR) two years after obtaining an Employment Pass (EP).
Additionally, Singapore’s education system offers distinct advantages—both NUS and NTU are globally recognized, and starting in 2025, China will be designated as a separate examination zone, reducing competition for Singapore-based students in university admissions.
The seminar provided insights into Singapore’s diverse education system, including public schools, international schools, and private institutions. Public schools have strict admission requirements for foreign students, while international schools cater to students with strong English proficiency and well-rounded abilities. Private schools, particularly those offering the Cambridge A-Level curriculum, have become a preferred choice for many Chinese students due to their strengths in math and science, the flexibility to select subjects of expertise, and widespread global university recognition. Among private schools, Furen International School stands out as an excellent option.
Established in 2000 and registered under the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), the school holds a four-year EduTrust certification. Through a focus on academic excellence and strict academic management, FIS students are able to successfully gain admission to world-renowned universities. Furen International School offers a Foundation Studies programme and a High School Diploma programme. Its impressive university placement record speaks for itself—over 90% of its graduates have secured unconditional offers from QS Top 50 universities in recent years, with 90.48% achieving this milestone in 2024. Additionally, 28.57% of graduates received unconditional offers from NUS, NTU and SMU.
Furen International School boasts several distinctive strengths:
● Dedicated University Planning Team: Provides one-on-one guidance for university applications, interview preparation, and document submission.
● Progressive English Learning System: Helps students transition from bilingual to fully English-speaking environments, preventing language barriers from affecting academic performance.
● Highly Qualified Faculty: Many teachers graduated from NUS and NTU, with a strong presence of experienced international faculty members.
● Exclusive Boarding Facilities: One of the few Singaporean schools offering school residences with 24-hour residential support, taking care of students' daily lives, resolving parents' concerns.
This seminar brought valuable and practical information about studying in Singapore to parents and students in Nanchang. With the joint efforts of CMB Nanchang Branch and SIEA, more students from Nanchang will have the opportunity to pursue further education in Singapore, fulfill their academic aspirations, and embark on a bright future.
